Lara De Marco was awarded a Bachelor of Music at Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Como (Italy) with first class honours at 19 years of age, writing a thesis about the harmonic syntax in the music by Fauré, Debussy and Ravel (supervisor: Prof. A. E. Negri).
At the age of 21 she completed a Master of Music Pedagogy at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano (Switzerland).
Lara studied piano under the guidance of A. Porrini, V. Dvorkin and Vovka Ashkenazy.
She has worked in piano masterclasses with an extensive number of artists, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, N. Bogino, A. Gradow, A. Planés, N. Trull.
Lara has also undertaken courses in liedbegleitung (held by D. Fueter), chamber music (K. Leister), organ and harpsichord (S. Molardi), as well as orchestra conducting (P. Gelmini) and composition courses (C. Ballarini).
Lara has performed in Italy, Switzerland and Finland.
As soloist, she performed Mozart’s piano concerto KV 467 and Bach’s BWV 1052 piano concerto with Orchestra da Camera di Lugano.
As conductor, she performed with Orchestra Sinfonica del Lario and Orchestra Philarmonica Mihail Jora of Bacau.
As well as performing, Lara has worked intensively teaching piano in Ticino (The American School in Switzerland, Scuola di musica del Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, SMART Academy) and in Italy (Scuola Media U. Foscolo, Como).
Lara is also skilled in organizing events, having been active in the artistic committee of the Ceresio estate season (2011, Lugano Turismo) and Musica in ospedale (2012 e 2013, Mendrisio).
Lara was awarded a Master of Humanities at Università G. Marconi (Roma) with highest honours writing a thesis of sociolinguistics on sex-based differences in language (supervisor: Prof. S. Pisano).
Her studies have been supported by scholarships from Zonta Clubof Lugano, the Fondazione Pro Libertas et Humanitas Kasimir Bartkowiak and Fondazione Lang e per la cultura italiana del Cantone Ticino.
